Through my Dad's diagnosis of dementia and the changes that followed, I witnessed the depth of their love in quiet, treasured moments. Even in his final days, my Mom remained calm and fully present with him. Because they had prepared ahead of time, she was able to focus on being by his side, knowing everything else was in place.
After Dad's passing, the funeral home shared that they wished every family was as prepared and organized as Mom had been.
That moment stayed with me.
I came to understand that preparation doesn't take away the weight of these moments, but it can offer a sense of calm when it's needed most.
From this experience, a light began to form, just like the light my Dad once kept at Point Abino Lighthouse.
