Honeypine Haven was created as more than a business name. It is a legacy rooted in love, strength, and light. Each part carrying forward pieces of our families story, and the values that guide the work we do.
The first part of our name, “Honey,” honors my Mom. When my son was small, he gave her that nickname, and it has stayed with her ever since. Beyond being a sweet name, it reflects her character perfectly.
For 61 years of marriage, she stood by my father’s side with patience, grace, and unwavering devotion. During his long journey with Frontal Lobe Dementia, she cared for him daily with remarkable strength, ensuring his dignity and comfort until his final breath. Watching her live out that kind of love, further inspired my own calling to support others.
Her examples throughout life, has taught me that compassion, patience and love can endure any path that is put infront of us.
The second part of our name, Pine, represents both the traditions of craftsmanship in my partner’s family and the resilience found in nature.
Pine reflects my partner’s family legacy. His parents once ran Pinecroft Handcrafts, where every creation was made with patience, skill, and heart. That tradition lives on through my partner’s business, Pinecroft Woodworking, where each piece is built with care and respect for the craft. Just like the work we do here, it’s about creating something lasting and meaningful.
Much like the tall pines of Muskoka, the Pinecroft tradition has stood strong through seasons of change — rooted deeply, yet always reaching upward. The pine is a symbol of both craftsmanship and nature: enduring, resilient, and created to last. It reminds me that to truly serve others, we must create with intention, stand firm through challenges, and hold space for growth.
The final part of our name, Haven, is for my Dad. Throughout his life, he carried his family through challenges with determination and steady faith. He always put his family first and always found the courage to push through difficult times.
Even in his final moments, he continued to teach us. As I held his hand in July 2025, I witnessed his incredible strength to endure and his everlasting love for his family. His faith never wavered, and his example reminded us that love can carry us through even the hardest of times.
Many years earlier, he had worked at a lighthouse — a fitting reflection for my Dad. He was a guiding presence, watching over us, protecting us, and showing us the way forward when life felt uncertain. The lighthouse has always been a symbol of strength for him, a steady beam of light amidst the storm.
Even after his passing, his guiding light has not gone out. It continues to shine on our family, and will always shine over Honeypine Haven. Guiding every step we take, and every family we support. (RIP Dad)

Hello, I’m Maria Schaubel — Founder of Honeypine Haven Senior Services and a Certified Professional Consultant on Aging (CPCA®).
For me, this work is more than a profession — it’s a calling. I am passionate about guiding seniors and their families through the paths of aging and life’s transitions. Whether it’s organizing important plans, easing worries, or simply being a steady presence during uncertain times. My goal is always the same: to bring comfort, support and peace of mind.
What inspires me most, is the opportunity to walk alongside people in moments that truly matter to them. I believe no one should feel alone when navigating decisions about retirement, aging, or end-of-life planning. Every conversation and every act of support is my way of helping families feel understood and cared for.
At Honeypine Haven, I carry forward the values of compassion, resilience, and love — values that continue to shape my life and my work. My promise is that each person who comes here will be met with empathy, respect, and a safe place to find support.
